Practically since I could walk, I've always had a passion for motocross. I accepted pretty early on that I didn't have much talent on the bike but I was determined to be a part of the sport in some way. Around my freshman year of high school, I really developed an interest for the media side of the sport. I started bringing a camera to the tracks to shoot photos and videos any chance I got. By my senior year of high school, I had made up my mind: I wanted to be a motocross photographer.

In 2019, Neilson Designs was born. I started with basic graphic design work and shooting photos at the races when I could. While I enjoyed graphic design, photography is where my passion was. Around 2021, I stopped taking on graphic design work to put my focus into photography. Throughout my journey of chasing my dream, I've been fortunate enough to cover everything from local Wisconsin racing to pro motocross at the highest level.
